How to Use Cheats with Android Emulators

Ah, the good ole days with Gameshark and Game Genie, perfect for skipping ahead or adding some pretty awesome features to the game. Luckily, you will be able to relive some of these memories! Most emulators support cheats like GameShark codes, and the ones that do have relatively the same setup.

Once you understand the basics, you'll be well on your way to cheat. Now this can be frustrating to figure out at first, but just realize not all codes will work and well, it takes some patience.

Step 1: Start Emulator & Load Game

Start up your Emulator and load a ROM. Don't start the game, just get to the main menu.

Step 2: Go to the Cheat MENU

Press the MENU button on your phone, you should get a list of option such as "Cheats." Some Emulators require you to go to "Settings > Cheats," where ever it is, you need to locate it.

Step 3: Load the Cheat

Load the cheat code you found. Most of the time, you hit MENU again and go to "Add Cheat" or there is a "Add" button. I've found cheat codes are Single Lines. Only have 1 cheat enabled at a time. **Gameshark requires a Master Code to be enabled first. Example: Master Code, Cheat 1

Step 4: Restart the Game

Most cheats require you to restart the game to recognize the cheat, so restart the ROM and see if it works. Not all cheats work; If one doesn't work, try again or another cheat. Don't blame the emulator, it could just be a fake cheat - they are common.

That's it. If you have a problem, you have a couple options. 1) View the emulation documentation in the Google Play store or see if there is a website 2) Contact the developer of the emulator for additional help. Good luck and game on!
